Coaching & Mentoring as a Developmental Intervention

  • It is a tried-and-tested, effective, and useful tool widely adopted by businesses as well as individuals in the EU and all over the world.
  • However, in Cyprus there is a market gap: despite the extensive adoption of coaching abroad, only a small portion of the population has tried coaching.
  • And only a handful of companies have started the journey of creating a coaching culture within their organisation.

THE AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE

  • To raise awareness about the transformative impact of coaching and mentoring in unleashing human potential and driving the growth of organisations in Cyprus.
  • To elevate the standards of the profession by serving as a forum for professionals to share best practices, innovative ideas, and the latest research in coaching and mentoring.
  • To facilitate networking opportunities for professionals in the coaching and mentoring field and foster meaningful collaborations within the business community.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The conference is addressed to  C-Level Executives , Business Executives, HR Professionals, Learning and Development Professionals, Business Consultants, Coaches,  and people interested in the fields of Coaching and Mentoring.

The Significance of Neuroscience Insights in Coaching and Mentoring

to a dynamic exchange between neuroscience and leadership, across various corporate levels, functions

and industries. By keeping the B.R.A.I.N. ... in mind, this model focuses on a holistic approach that

emphasises the significance of the human element and the need for recalibrating the way we connect,

decide, grow, influence, and conduct business, thus providing new dimensions to coaching and mentoring

practices.

By highlighting the shift from a problem-centric to a people-centric focus, we will explore how coaching cultivates an environment where individuals feel profoundly valued and relational dynamics experience a genuine transformation. The session will conclude with reflections on the significant organizational impact that such a paradigm shift can introduce, leaving attendees equipped with valuable insights to carry forward.

Leaders: How coaching | mentoring can integrate a fresh perspective on the critical conversation that improves performance

Never has productivity been under more scrutiny. More for less while working with uncertainty is the context in which many now find themselves. At the same time leaders are expected to be caring about people, understand generational needs, inspire their teams to outperform others and more in highly competitive markets – all packaged within an emotionally intelligent profile! Scarcity of time demands a fresh look at what’s anticipated from today’s leadership role. This session invites us to view performance management through a focused lens.

SESSION

Leading in Hybrid Work Environment: The challenge of presence & human connection

Remote ways of working were, until 5 years ago, the reality of truly international corporate teams, uncommon to the daily routine amongst co-workers who lived few miles apart. The fragile working relationships and the valuable team spirit suffered from the turbulence of virtual working that barged in and from the laptop screens placed in front of everyone’s face. Striving to deliver at work in these new conditions, most felt disconnected from their colleagues and, whilst appearing on screen, they were far from present. Today, we have named “hybrid” what was before “virtual” and working relationships seem even more distant and meaningless, despite being physically present as well. Leaders still try to maintain the sense of a team without being clear on how to balance empathy, presence and targets’ achievement in an environment that continues to be totally turbulent. In this workshop, we will attempt to explore what is our current collective experience of this hybrid working world, how it has affected leadership effectiveness and what could be the role of coaching in shaping relationships in current times.

SESSION

Coaching Behaviours to build a Healthy Culture

Traditional leadership has been built on leaders being the centre of knowledge and puts a pressure on them to always know the answers. This too often leads to long hours, a lonely role and burn out. In turn, as people around them simply seek answers from them, there is little growth or development in the workforce. Younger colleagues become disinterested and either stagnate or leave.

What could it look like if leaders embraced a role of developing others? Listening to new approaches? Letting new minds tackle old problems and find different solutions? Leaning in to be curious; allowing room to question and challenge; creating a safe space for others’ experimentation?

Through case studies of how Grant Thornton has opened its leaders to core coaching skills, Olivia will challenge the traditional ways of leadership and offer a different approach. One which encourages the development of self-determination and creates an environment of innovation and diversity.

BIO

Olivia Gadd is an EMCC accredited Master Coach, accredited Supervisor and accredited Team Coach at practitioner level. She is a co-founder and co-CEO of Big Thinking Space: a one-stop coaching consultancy that specialises in bringing coaching skills to leaders with the aim of creating culture change.

Over the last four years, Olivia has worked with more than 370 Grant Thornton leaders from more than 60 countries via their unique coach development programme.

Her work has seen her work in all parts of the world and has given her an appreciation of cultural differences in different countries and regions, and also highlighted how similar people are wherever in the world they live.

Her outside interests include reading, cooking, family history and playing field lacrosse.
